Are you unknowingly setting your kids up for failure or detruction?

ARE YOU FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING YOUR "GROWN" CHILDREN? - When We Speak TV

So….I’m riding home from the gym this morning, listening to the Frank and Wanda Morning Show on V103 (which is my morning ritual) and they are discussing an article that was in Forbes and the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
FRANK AND WANDA

To my understanding, the article was stating that 59% of parents are supporting their adult children…. (WHAT!?!) Yes, you read it correctly! When they first started discussing this, I thought they were referring to “adult children” that are still in college but NO! They are referring to adults ranging up to 39 years old. (WHAT!?!)
Now I’ve heard of parents taking care of their kids but DAMN! When Frank started talking about the article, he was livid. Wanda, being the comedian and motherly soul, was trying to reason the issue. (I guess a mother would see it a little different!) One the other hand, I totally agreed with Frank. I couldn’t understand it.
There was a lady that called in that said that she was “playing the game” with her parents and continued to say that when she was a child she would not clean her room because she knew that after awhile her mother would “get tired of seeing it dirty, and clean it up herself”. (What?!? My mother wouldn’t have told me to clean that room once, and after that, she was going to get something that was going to MAKE me clean that room!)

They, (Frank and Wanda) went on to say how this is only setting the children up for failure. I think that is a very soft way of putting it because to me, it is setting them up for destruction. The reason I say this is because….if I’m used to my parent(s) taking care of me, what life lessons have I learned? I know that parents don’t want their kids to struggle but in your struggle is where you find your strength. If you are dependent on your parents, what if something happens to them? You don’t know how to survive on your own, then you have kids and aren’t able to teach them how to survive and the cycle just continues. Which goes back to what I said, “Destruction"
I would like to know your opinion on this matter so please comment or hit me up on Twitter!
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that sometimes you need help from others but assistance is not dependency! (My mother knows that I wouldn’t call her to help me with nothing! I know she would but I never do. I’ve even been in a situation where I was homeless and she never even knew! Well she does now, if she reads this! )
I have so much I want to say on this topic but I’m going to close. Definitely let me know your thoughts on this. Is it wrong? Is it right? Do you support your children? Why?
Until next time; remember that “Death and LIFE are in the power of the tongue
