As part of the Atlanta Jazz Festival, WCLK Jazz 91.9 FM is throwing a 50th-anniversary bash featuring an all-star band led by the award-winning drummer Lil John Roberts.

Speaking of Labor Day, the Riverfront Jazz Festival in Dallas, Texas, is a multistage musical festival that cultivates, promotes, and spotlights renowned musical artists from around the world as well as promising young artists from the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. I don't think I have to tell you that I was extremely excited to see this story about Julie Dexter.

You may remember that Julie Dexter has been a guest on When We Speak, and was my first introduction to the Atlanta Indie Music Scene!

Have you seen my interview with “UK Queen of Soul” Julie Dexter?  If not, shame on you……

On May 5, 2012, I got a chance to see Julie perform again at John A White Park in Atlanta for an event called Jazz in the Park, hosted by Atlanta City Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms and Atlanta's public safety agencies.   (Julie was wonderful as usual).  

She performed a number of songs but I wanted to definitely share with you her song Who I Am off her album NewAgain.

The line up not only included Julie Dexter, it also included great artists such as Joey Sommerville and Journell Henry.  If you didn’t get to make it, here’s  a little snippet of Julie’s Performance.
