Meet Kat Rodriguez!!

Kat Rodriguez (aka Kat) is an incredible saxophonist, singer, songwriter, arranger, and composer with an accomplished resume. As a saxophonist in Beyonce's all female band, she has toured the world with one of the best, but is now ready to step into the limelight and show the world what she is made of. Kat currently has a CD out titled Mockery on iTunes and Amazon. 

Kat is one of 1000 girls who auditioned. She was handpicked by Beyonce herself. Kat took a break from singing for the opportunity of a lifetime. Since then, Kat has recorded The Beyonce Experience Tour, the I...Am Tour (with a featured solo on both DVDs), Beyonce Live at Roseland, An Intimate Night at The Wynn, Live at Revel, and Beyonce Live in London.

She has recorded with: Beyonce, Destinys Child, DJ Mark Ronson, Mobb Deep, Kidd Kidd, 50 Cents, Anthony Hamilton, Big Krit, Big Boi, Trumpeter/Producer Keyon Harrold and KeyKat Productions to name a few.

Working and touring with Beyonce inspired Kat. 

"When I was younger, I would always pretend to sing in front of the mirror with a brush. Yes, it sounds cliché, but I did. I've been fortunate enough to travel the world and share the stage with Beyonce. Now that I've seen the masses chant her songs, my heart yearns even more to follow my childhood dream," says Kat. 

That is exactly what she is doing. With her musical background and extensive performance experience, she blends talent and drive to create the phenomenon that is Kat Rodriguez.

Why You Should Support Indie Music

Recently, I was speaking with a friend of mine in Texas. We started talking about the music industry, in particularly the indie music industry. He began to tell me about his struggles in the industry. As we talked more, I began to share with him some of the things that have been told to me from some of my artist friends in Atlanta.
After our conversation was over, I realized that most indie artists are struggling with the same things....SUPPORT
Therefore, I want to encourage each of you to support indie artists because they work very hard to provide you with great music…usually from their own bank accounts. There are numerous ways to support these artists. One way would be just to share their music when you see it on social media sites. If you have a blog, you could voluntarily write a review about their music. Lastly, if they are a guest on When We Speak, you should share their interview with us, rate it, and comment.
One thing I’ve learned through my research of blogging and social media is that a lot is based off comments, views, likes, etc. Did you know that even if you hit the “thumbs down” on a video, it’s better than not clicking anything at all? Sounds crazy right? Well, this is how the internet looks at it; if you clicked dislike, the video impacted you enough to leave your opinion about it.

Interview with singer Winston Warrior
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with singer Winston Warrior, to talk about his past, current, and future career goals.  While speaking to him, I was very inspired.  Winston talks about his past struggles in the music industry and how he originally gave up on the music.  But that didn't stop him!  (Check out the videos below.)

The interview with Winston was very inspiring to me because it signified my life!  I can totally relate to the things that he's experienced.  Most of all, it inspired me to "Keep Moving".  And I hope that it inspires you to keep working hard at what you do and never give up on your dream!  Some people don't believe that dreams can come true.....sometimes your dream becomes bigger than you ever imagined!
